I follow WowInsider’s Reader UI of the week and eagerly await every new UI (and drool over every new workspace). Today’s was no different from the norm. I LOVE IT! It even has the added feature of working. Now, a slight disclaimer is that a couple of the items did not load when I ran today because of the patch going to 2.2, but I didn’t write them down, and don’t care to. It works like a charm and I don’t miss anything that didn’t load. One thing of note so far is that I can’t get the buttons on AutoBar to work at all. I ended up creating a few huge buttons on the left side of the minimap to click for vitals.

Here is my before and after memory consumption:

. NICE!

Okay, I’m sure you’re dying for a look, so here it is at 1280×1024 on a 3 year old video card:

All of that includes various class-specific addons that I don’t have running all the time. Obviously, I don’t run Klik on my hunter or warrior. I have made an archive of the Addon files if anyone would like to e-mail me a request for my compilation as it stands as of midnight. I’m sorry I can’t offer support, but I can tell you that if you download the wowaceupdater and visit the normal WoW interface sites, you’ll be all set. Most addons should be getting updates in the next week because of the patch. If not, find something else to fill your need. Some things still need to be moved around the screen, and the opening load-up causes a huge gulp at all the work to move things around, but I’m sure you can handle it. Just to be sure, I loaded it on Huntr with his hunter addons, and it came out to 27MB after 10 minutes.

I got a new UI last night because there are some things that I have seen on the UI of the Week on WoWinsider that I really like, but I have no idea what they are. That’s when my natural instinct kicked in: work smarter, not harder. I went to Curse Gaming and found the UI I was looking for as a compilation called All Deuce UI. Here is the UI as I had it when it loaded up last night. I took a shot of it this morning, but it’s not appearing on the server. I’ll do a side-by-side view for you tomorrow, as I moved the bars around and got rid of the 3D portraits.

ADUI is an all-Ace UI that is soooo easy to update with the Ace Updater, it’s not even funny. Run the updater as soon as you download it, because nearly everything had an update, but that’s all right, right? It’s Ace!

What I most loved about the set up is that you actually copy over an entire WTF folder based on your resolution, so there is no moving things around. It comes with a default setup that kicks right off the bat! I had to add Auctioneer and Fu-Experience (I couldn’t check my /played because of some chat plug-in blocking the text and Fu-XP doesn’t show time played). There were some things that I was frantically trying to move, adjust, enable/disable stuff while I tried siccing my cat on stuff so I still made some progress.

The list of addons is extensive, I mean like 30-40 addons, but it’s only a 30MB cache file when loaded. Many could do without a number of the addons, such as sounds for chat, the 3D portraits (I turned that off and use the UF’s 3D portraits), and the IM-style individual chat windows. There is a LOT to play with, and I’ve got it so it’s not being a distraction any more, and I would venture to say that it is helping me play faster and smarter. Now if only I could stop accidently targeting Rare Elites 1-4 levels above me without realizing my danger…

Here is the full list of Addons that come with it. I obviously disabled Raid stuff and places that my lowbie isn’t going any time soon. My newly-found favorites that I didn’t know about before this are bolded.

I’ve added some new features to my compilation, such as Clear Text and Nudge/Fudge. This one is a bit of a monster download, but I run with about 25-35MB of cache size while I’m playing. The biggest factor is your AH scans with Auctioneer, depending on how large your market is.

Visually, it remains largely the same, although I have switched to Dual-Screen and have moved things about between the 2 areas. I’m leaving this representation up, as it seems to be the one appealing to those downloading the initial release.

15MB download

Notes:

You may get one error box when you log in to your characters. It seems to have something to do with Cartographer, but since I have not experienced any loss of function or annoying pop-ups while playing (thank you Swatter), I have not investigated what it is.
