You would think that by the time you get through 27 levels of playing a class, you would have some clue about being in a group of two. Yes, the number 2. Let me set the stage for you.
I was running through Duskwood with Protectr (Level 27 Protection Pally) to go turn in a quest in Darkshire, and passed the path to Stalvan, when I Blessed a priest. He gave me a Fort buff and asked in the /s channel if I was questing. I said I was about to kill Stalvan. With that, I sent the invite and he accepted.
We went to the area and I immediately noticed that he was running out of mana on level 30 ghoul. Not a good sign, but I trusted that he knew that Stalvan would be an endurance fight for 2 lvl 27s.
Never trust a priest who uses /s chat, I suppose. I don’t know, but that’s the only thing that I can say could be a tip-off about what followed.
Twenty seconds into the fight (just after I told him to start using his wand), we got an add, because he wouldn’t follow me as I dragged Stalvan back to the area where we already killed the wandering mobs. Noooo. He stood there and aggroed on in the field, so I had to go rescue him and hope he could heal me. No such luck, as he was already out of mana.
By the way, his response to my:
[Protectr]: Wand him.
[Idiot]: Wand?
No, I’m not kidding.
After we died, I told him once again to use his wand to do damage to conserve mana to heal me, unless he wanted to tank and me heal him. He said he didn’t want to do that because then he couldn’t do as much damage.
<blink><blink>
I fell short of yelling and calling him a stupid noob and ask him how old he was. I told him to just do it or we’d die again. We died again.
[Idiot]: What happnd that time? It wouldn’t let me cast any spells or heal you.
I logged off and went to watch TV.
lol, something similar happened to me once but the guy was a 35 pally i think. Some people just shouldn´t be allowed to play 😛
Man, if you can’t figure out how to play by 35, you really suck! I could understand it if you had someone level your toon to 60 for you, and you get to Outland without a clue, but who gets leveled to 27 or 35?
I’m at level 28 now with something like 30 hours of /played time.
lol
I know the pain. What is worse imho is when u go to BRD as a pally tank and the mage in the group who is lvl 53 keeps pulling all the agg because he refuses not to blizzard the 4 mobs you just pulled and decides to sheep the guy with the skull on his head 2 secs after pulling (would of thought this was an accident but he did it 3 times). Oh, and then he calls you a noob tank because he died 3 times because of doing the blizzards repeatedly even after being told to stop and leaves the group. Lucky him, I was in the middle of typing /kick just then anyways.
Also, I was in Mana tombs last night and the leader of the group (pally tank, I respec’d to holy) asks why I have the 64 mage on ignore. I can’t remember so I take him off and what happens….skull getting sheeped, blizzards at the wrong time etc. Only this time no one dies (I’m lvl 67 and know how to heal) but the tank gets mad and leaves the group. I’m writing the above about BRD and it dawns on me…riskyjubles..ignore…doesn’t know how to play…thats right, same guy. I knew he was on ignore for a reason.
Dang, man! That’s funnier than my story. 🙂
I was running Ramparts on my 61 rogue and a 67 Tankadin couldn’t figure out why we were out-aggroing him. Finally, I told him that auto-attack only generates so much aggro and to start using some of his mana on such wonderful devices such as Consecrate and Captain America’s Shield. Eventually, I did the same thing you did, Gitr: Called it a night and spent some time with she-who-must-be-obeyed.
Sometimes it a lot less aggrivating to clean the kitchen “just so” than to put up with a player like that.
Is it wrong that, as a hunter, I’m overly excited to see that all of these stories are NOT about huntards?? 😀 Proof exists that other classes can be just as bad at ruining a group experience.. Joy!
I suppose that any enjoyment procured at the expense of another class is fair game in my book.
Well, there is a chance that he is a “casual” gamer, who is new to MMOs. Wow was my first true commitment to an MMO – and at first (about 1.5 years ago) it was a little overwhelming. What caught my eye was “wand?” – because I remember wondering who can use a wand, and how it will work..:) Of course, I was lvl 8! Funny to remember, especially now having a couple of 70 mains, a pile of 50-something alts, etc..etc..:)
It is possible that he might have an experienced friend or two running him up lvls, and when he is left alone, he hasn’t learned properly.
