Friday night, a level 70 guildie ran me through Sunken Temple because I had about 5 quests to take care of. When we were done, he got on guild chat and said,
I’m getting tired of this game. Nothing ever changes.
Most of the replies from similarly-geared guildies were in agreement with him. I was not, but I was too tired at that point to make my case.
Without consulting patch notes, I can think of quite a few changes since I joined Azeroth, and I’ve heard of the nightmares of beta and some of the first patches. We all know that they added instances with patches early on: Mauradon, Dire Maul, and Molten Core, but what has changed about the game?
I’ll get the ball rolling with the first comment.
I remember the day when you wanted to fly from one place to another, but your flying mount would stop at each and every flight point and you’d have to direct yourself to the next flight point.
There was no walking away to fly from Light’s Point Chapel to Booty Bay, because you would stop at Chillwind Pass 2 minutes later.
I remember when there was only 1 Alliance AH in Ironforge. I remember when you could run a 10-man raid to Scholo or Strat and take 15 to UBRS. I remember when there were no battlegrounds.
I remember when the Deeprun Tram between Stormwind and Ironforge didn’t have the rat flute quest.
I remember the days when real _fun_ pvp happend in hillsbrad…
I remember when stormstrike didn’t have it’s own icon.
Seriously though .. I’m getting bored in that everything I do now has no impact on the world and next to no impact on my character. Ashenvale is still a stalemate, those harpies in the north barrens still haven’t been wiped out, those dirty dorfs are still digging ditches in south barrens
Now, the 2.4 patch did introduce the unlocking of the Isle of Quel’danas content, so that’s a step in the right direction design wise, although eventually it will, once again, settle into a stale stability.
@ Hulan, Chris, Jens, and Garumoo – Those are all pretty good ones, Though I don’t know that they will stabilize anything in the new areas until they become the old areas.
Has anything happened to Wetlands, ever? Of course, there is lore there with the red dragons, I believe… up and coming content?
I think the only time you deal with the red dragons in the Wetlands is for your Onyxia attunement.
I’m looking forward to seeing if some of the zones in the old world that are unopened (i.e. Hyjal, the zone south of Silverpine, etc.) will ever make it into the game. I always though it was kinda weird to have those zones but no way to enter them, although you can apparently get into Hyjal by going through the elite area in southern Winterspring, but it’s against the terms of agreement to enter unfinished zones.
Yeah I was disappointed that things almost never change in the so called dynamic world, and all the content is geared towards end-game (BT, Isle of QQ, etc). But now that i’m 70 its a bit different, I understand they have to add stuff to endgame to make it meaningful and give people who have been playing for years to find another reason to play. That said, i’m about played out. I have a level 70 raiding T5 content. I have a horde char at 44. I have another alt druid at 62. Once i get done getting those to 70 i suspect i’ll be done until Wraith comes along. There isn’t a reason to grind another alt to 70 again, and nobody likes to do the same quest twice. It happens to evertying, WoW is just so huge that it takes years to get through all the content. But when i leave i’ll be happy that i explored every knook and cranny.
Hey, Rob!
That’s a great attitude… be happy about exploring every nook and cranny. You’re welcome to comment any time. 🙂
I, being an alt-aholicmay have reached the end of toons to 70 when I get Protectr to level 70, but I intend on playing to my heart’s content with him in 5-man’s, at least. I’ll bounce between healing and tanking, since 50g is just a matter of an hour of dailies. Two sets of gear shouldn’t be too hard to hold on to, especially since I’m a mining blacksmith with Gitr for further bankrolling.
I can’t wait until Wrath comes out, but I hope it’s not before Protectr is geared. Deadr will be next to hit 70 since he’s already at 67 something. Will I get a hunter to 70? Probably. When? Dunno.
